The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of aerobic dance on blood lipids and body composition of healthy women. Methods: Eighteen females (age: 29.1 ± 6.3 years) participated 12-week aerobic dance program (the range of exercise intensity would be 65-80% maximal heart rate), two-times/each week, about 45-50 minutes/each time. Fasting blood was drawn before and after this program and analyzed for triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). In addition, the changes of subjects’ body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) were recorded and compared. Results: After the program finished, the BMI and WC were significantly lower than previous. (21.4 ± 2.0 - 21.0 ± 1.8 kg/m2 ; 73.8 ± 7.8 - 70.4 ± 5.7 cm, p < .05). Except TG, LDL-C (106.2 ± 16.3 - 92.3 ± 13.1 mg/dL) significantly decreased, HDL-C (58.0 ±12.7 - 61.2 ± 12.0 mg/dL) significantly increased. Conclusion: The aerobic dance of twelve-week had positive benefit on HDL, LDL and body composition of the females.
