【Abstract】

The government here is enthusiastically trying to preserve the traditional culture and restore the lost. And the newly developed ecological engineering techniques are also used in greening and beautifying the environments.
The local religion, such as Taoism and the culture are psychological supports for the people here in Taiwan. And the religion also has quite a lot influence on the community development. The religion combined with the local culture and became a motif for the community. Some of the public activity centers are located nearby the temples or shrines in the community.
The traditional battle array which performed every year in Neimen Township in Kaohsiung County, namely, ‘Song-jiang-zhen’ is quite famous that attracted thousands of people come here to see the performance. That also makes the temple become a famous sightseeing spot. During the season in spring, it is congested by the participants and viewers and there is no place for leisure or recreation. Judging this situation, we tried to find an area nearby the temple and try to make a planning to build a recreational park there. The planning project contains investigating and surveying of the area, analyzing the landscape and leisure elements, and make a plan for the park.
The plan includes followings:
1. Using some of the indigenous plants to enrich the ecological environment.
2. Making some water and soil conservation facilities to protect the soil and the land.
3. Making some facilities for the performance or demonstration of the traditional martial arts and folklore.
4. Building a museum to preserve the traditional arts and festival relics.
5. Building a pharmaceutical botanical garden to preserve the plants and for the environmental education.
6. Building a small zoo to raise some lovely small animals, and let the visitors can touch them and play with them.
Expecting this park will be a new recreational spot in Neimen Township, and can gather more people to the natural environment.

Key words: sustainable environment engineering, religious array culture, leisure and educational park
