TheobjectiveofcurrentstudyisfocusonassessingtheantioxidantactivityofselectedChineseherbals,gintiana,gymnadeniaconopsea,Smallanthussonchifolius,pu-
nicagranatumLinn,andPhellinusigniariusextractedbyvarioussolvents.Theresultsindicatedthat90.53%DPPHfreeradicalscavengingeffectwasexhibitedwhenethanolextractofPunicagranatumLinnwasemployed.Forchelatingability,morethan70%ferrousionscapturecanbedeterminedwithextractofPunicagranatum.Besides,99.54%superoxideanionscavengingactivitywasobserved,whenPhellinusigniariusethanolextractwasused.Furthermore,thebestreducingpower,73.83%,wasfoundifethanolextractfromgintianawasengaged.Thewaterextractofgintianashowed94.03%superoxideanionscavengingactivityifupto300μg/mlconcen-
tration.ForH2O2,morethan75%scavengingcapacitywasobservedwhen50μg/mlofethanolextractswasused.TheABTS+scavengingactivitywerealmostreached100%withwaterandethanolextractofgintiana.Themeasuredflavonoidcontentsofgintianaethanolextract,gintianawaterextract,PunicagranatumLinnwaterex-
tractandSmallanthussonchifoliuswaterextractare98.00%,99.50%,90.00%and99.45%,respectively.However,ourstudysuggestedthatdifferentChineseherbalsshowedvariouscapacitiesinantioxidantassaysunderspecifiedconditions.
