The objective of the study was to determine the effect of dietary saccharin supplementation on the growth performance, feed intake and feed efficiency of weaning piglets. Thirty six LYD crossbred gilts with average initial weight of 8.51 kg were used after one week of weaning on day 28. They were randomly allocated into the following 3 treatment groups, 4 replicates per treatment and 3 piglets in each replicate. The basal diet was formulated mainly on corn and extruded full fat soybean, which was 0.035% saccharin group as Treatment 1, 0.07% saccharin group as Treatment 2, control group (non saccharin supplementation) as Treatment 3. The piglets were kept in conventional open type nursery house, the area of each pen, length x width = 300 cm x 240 cm, each provided with a cup drinker, long feeding trough and a heating lamp. Twenty four hours lighting was provided, heating lamp was used for the whole experimental period. During the trial, ad libitum feed and water were provided, the pigs were checked 4 times daily, the duration of the trial was 8 weeks. For data collection, the piglets’ initial weight, weekly weight gain, daily feed intake and weekly feed efficiency were determined. The results indicated that the feed intake and weight gain were improved by 0.07% content of saccharin in feeds. However only weight gain was improved for pigs in lower (0.035%) saccharine content in feeds.
