中文摘要

The objective of the study was to determine the effect of dietary salt, potassium chloride (KCl) and calcium chloride (CaCl2) supplementation on growth performance in finishing pigs. Sixteen LYD crossbred castrated boars were used, randomly allocated into 4 treatments, 0.25% salt as Treatment 1, 0.8% salt as Treatment 2, 0.8% CaCl2 as Treatment 3 and 0.8% KCl as Treatment 4, 4 replicates per treatment and one pig in each replicate. Pigs with average body weight 65-70 kg were kept until 110 kg, the duration of the study was 8 weeks. Pigs were kept in wet pad housing, the area for each pen was 6.15m x 3.05m, providing a feeding trough (1.5m x 0.4m x 0.2m) and a nipple drinker. Feed and water were provided ad libitum, feed residue was collected once daily. Weight was determined weekly. The results indicated that Treatment 1 (0.25% salt) had the best performance in feed intake, weight gain, and feed efficiency among treatments. Feed intake, weight gain, and feed efficiency in Treatment 3 (0.8% CaCl2) and Treatment 4 (0.8% KCl) were lower than those in Treatment 1 (0.8% salt).
