To obtain quick and smooth contents for clients from media servers, the criteria of the most
suitable server selection should be considered not only on the nearest server but also
including the network traffic loads and the popularity of requested contents, i.e., the
context-aware considerations. In this paper, we proposed three anycast-based architectures
with provision of application-level context-aware capability to achieve the most suitable
server selection for different application domains. The proposed architectures based on the
characteristics of IPv6 anycast and context-aware operations achieve to find the most
suitable mirror server/proxy. We evaluate the system performance of the three proposed
architectures and give the performance comparison with the non-anycast architecture.
