Abstract—The design concept of a bio-botanic robot is
elaborated in this paper. The proposed bio-botanic robot
system can present the behavior based on plant growth.
Besides, it can reflect the different growth types of plants
depending on the proportional amount of light,
temperature and water. The mechanism design is made up
of processed aluminum base, spring, polydimethylsiloxane
(PDMS) and actuator to constitute plant base and plant
body. The control system consists of two micro-controllers
and self-designed embedded development board where the
main controller transmits the value of environmental
sensing module within embedded board to sub-controller.
The micro-controller determines growth stage, growth
height, time and transmits its decision value to main
controller. Finally, the main controller controls the growth
type of bio-botanic robot using servo motor and leaf
actuator based on the transmitted data of sub-controller.
The proposed structure and hardware system of this
research is self-developed and designed. The research
result not only helps kids realize the variation of plant
growth but also is entertainment-educational through the
growth scenario of bio-botanic robot.
