Abstract—This study discusses the influence of game-based instruction combined with interactive whiteboards on learning effectiveness. Using Taguchi methods, we select the best teaching method combination to provide a reference for teachers in the future. The participants of this study were 25 third grade students; the subject taught during the experiment was Science and Technology. Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) were integrated into the teaching platform, and the experimental game-based instruction was applied for 12 weeks (36 sessions). The results indicate that IWBs are effective teaching aids when combined with game-based instruction, generating positive learning effects. During the experiment, we found that the more thoroughly teachers apply each function of IWBs, the more students’ learning and learning retention improves.
