This paper proposes a software-based control method for plant growth chamber applications. The proposed include graphic user interface, a growth chamber, Arduino micro-controller, multiple sensors, and actuators. The user can utilize the graphic user interface to setup the desired environment factors (such as temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide (CO2)) of growth chamber and then send it to the Arduino micro-controller via RS-232 communications protocol. The desired environment parameters (such as temperature, humidity, and CO2) can be maintained through programmable logic computing method. The experiment results demonstrate that each of environment al parameter range of chamber can be maintained by using the proposed system.
